It's drizzling charity shop railway books at home ............

...... apart from my monthly subscription copy of December 2024  Railway Modeller, I was really trying to downsize my railway literature.

In the last few days my 95 year-old mother-in-law found a replica copy, in A1 condition, of  'Ian Allens, BR Locos Combined Volume, 1948' in a Waterlooville charity shop.

If that was not enough, I found a copy in the free bin at a local library, 'British Railway Enthusiasm' by Ian Carter. The sleeve notes description, 'The first academic book to study railway enthusiasts in Britain. Far from a trivial topic, the post-war train spotting craze swept most boys and some girls into a passion for railways, and for many, ignited a lifetime's interest.'
